Earning Trust and Helping Members since 1936

With 90 years of experience, Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union has grown from humble beginnings—when a simple cigar box served as a teller drawer and payday lunches were proudly provided—into a trusted partner providing financial support for every stage of life. Our positive reputation reflects both legacy of our former members and our promise to those who are part of our organization now and moving forward.

1936
And this is where we began. We were established as Plate Mill Employees Credit Union. The charter was signed on June 12, 1936. 
 
1959
We were renamed as Alcoa Tenn Federal Credit Union in 1959 when the West & North Plants merged.
 
1961
ATFCU celebrated our 25th Anniversary in 1961.
 
1967
The first $10,000 loan was issued in 1967. This loan was assumed to be a property loan.
 
1968
ATFCU launched payroll deductions in 1968.
 
1970
ATFCU achieved the milestone of $1.2 million in assets.
 
1985 (1983)
In the early 1980s, the Mill Street Branch was opened.
 
1986
ATFCU celebrated its 50th Anniversary. At this time, ATFCU had 5,855 members and $36,405,143 in assets.
 
1991
ATFCU established its Hall Rd Branch.
 
1998
Adapting to the changing needs of our members, we launched AccessLine, Voice Response Telephone Banking.
 
1999
In March 1999, our Foothills Branch opened in Foothills Plaza.
 
2001
Foothills Branch was opened on Foothills Mall Drive.
 
2002
In 2002, the Charter was opened. At this time, ATFCU had $101,819,329 in assets. Home Banking (browser-based) was also introduced at this time.
 
2003
Continuing to grow, in 2003, our Tellico West Branch opened.
 
2007
ATFCU opened our Fairview Branch.
 
2008
During the trying times of the Recession, ATFCU provided its members with loan assistance.

2011
Alcoa Tenn celebrated 75 years – and achieved another major milestone: reaching $250 million in assets. In June of 2011, ATFCU had 18,072 members and assets totaling 
$252,371,758.

2017
Eagleton Branch opened
 
2019
The Main Office on Hall Road was renovated, and the office was expanded.
 
2020
So many people were impacted by the pandemic. In 2020, ATFCU implemented loan modifications for impacted members.
